Our office for Evnoia Foodstuff Trading Pvt. Ltd. is located at 560-562 Anna Salai in the Teynampet area. If you know Chennai, you know that Anna Salai is a very busy stretch of road. There is almost always a traffic jam outside our window. We are in a fairly old building that has seen better days, but it gets the job done. We spend most of the day on the phone or working on the computer, coordinating the movement of food supplies. Trading is mostly about timing and making sure the numbers add up. It’s not a glamorous business. There are stacks of files everywhere and the tea lady comes around twice a day which is usually the highlight of the afternoon. We don’t have any big mission statements on the walls. It’s just us trying to keep the suppliers and the buyers happy. Sometimes the air conditioning struggles with the heat, so we keep a few desk fans going. The Teynampet metro station isn't far, so it's easy for the staff to get here, even if the commute is a bit of a headache. We like being in the middle of everything. It feels like we are right in the heart of the city’s commerce. We’ve been trading from this spot for a while now and we know the rhythms of the street outside. It’s a lot of work, but we find our way through it every day.
