Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary School

Our school is located at No 27 on Ethiraj Koil Street in Kodungaiyur. If you know Chennai, you know that this neighborhood has a lot of families and small shops. The street can get pretty crowded, especially when the school day starts or ends. We have been part of this community for a long time. The building is a Matriculation Higher Secondary School, which means we have students of all ages here from morning till afternoon. You can hear the sounds of the neighborhood from the classrooms—the bells from the temple, the bikes passing by, and people talking. It is a very lived-in place. We don't have those big, shiny glass walls you see in new office buildings. It is mostly brick, paint, and a lot of history. Every year we have to repaint some of the walls because the kids leave marks everywhere. The teachers here mostly live nearby and walk or take a scooter to get to work. We spend our time focusing on the books and the lessons. Sometimes the rain makes the street a bit muddy, but the kids do not seem to mind. We just keep the gates open and handle whatever the day brings. It is a practical place where people work hard and the students mostly just try to get through their lessons before the heat of the afternoon hits. Sometimes we run out of supplies, but we always find a way to make it work for the next class.
