Dav Matriculation Higher Secondary School

Our school is at No 162, Sivananda Salai in Choolaimedu. If you live in this part of Chennai, you probably know where we are. It’s a pretty busy street, especially when school starts and ends. The building is several stories high to make room for all the classes since we don't have much land to spread out on. That’s just how things are in Chennai. We have students from all grades, so there is a lot of movement on the stairs throughout the day. The hallways are narrow, and it can get quite loud during the breaks. We have a small office near the entrance where we handle all the administrative work. It’s usually piled high with notebooks and files. The teachers have a small room to sit in, but they are mostly in the classrooms. We follow the matriculation system, so there’s a lot of focus on the exams and the syllabus. On hot days, the fans are always humming, trying to keep everyone comfortable. We don’t have a big playground, but the kids manage to find space to move around. It’s an old-school way of doing things, but it works for the families in Choolaimedu. We know most of the parents by name because they’ve been sending their kids here for years. It’s a tight-knit community in a very crowded city. We just keep our heads down and focus on getting the kids through their subjects every single year.
