City Fast Foods

We are tucked away on Dr Rangachari Road in Mylapore. The building is quite old, and our address is 74, though the old number was 83 on the records. People in Chennai know how busy Mylapore can get on any given day. It’s a tight street with lots of bikes and people walking to the temples nearby. City Fast Foods is a small operation. We don’t have much room for sitting inside, so most people just stand and eat at the counter or take their food to go in bags. We’ve been here for a long time. The walls have some old calendars and a clock that’s always five minutes fast, but nobody bothers to fix it. We start early in the morning, getting the stove hot and ready. The smell of frying usually drifts out into the street and lets people know we are open. It’s just a few of us working here every day. We don't have a manager or a marketing team. We just do the work ourselves. The sink is in the corner and the counter is where all the action happens. We get a lot of regulars who stop by every single day for their usual order. We don't even need to ask them what they want anymore. It’s a simple life for us. We deal with the heat of the kitchen and the humidity of the city. We don't have air conditioning, just a couple of wall fans that hum.
