Central Store

Central Store is located at No.244 on Trunk Road in Poonamallee. If you know the area, we are right opposite the Government Hospital. This means we see a lot of people who are in a hurry or visiting family members at the hospital. The road is always loud with buses and lorries passing by toward Chennai, so there is constant noise. We keep a variety of things because you never know what someone might need when they are away from home. From basic snacks to small toiletries, it is all crammed in here. The shop is an old building and it has its quirks, like the floor being a bit uneven in places. We do not have big signs or anything modern. It is just a place to get what you need and move on. The heat from the road can be quite a lot in the afternoons so we keep the shutters halfway down sometimes to stay cool. People come in for a quick bottle of water or some biscuits and they tell us stories about why they are in the area. We listen and keep the line moving. It is a busy life being on such a main road. We do not have much time for sitting around. Usually, we are busy restacking the shelves or dealing with the spare change. It is a straightforward business and we have been doing it this way for a long time without much changing inside these walls.
