Bala Iyengar Catering Services

We run Bala Iyengar Catering Services out of our place on Pillaiyar Koil 2nd Street in Ekkaduthangal. It’s number 8/11, tucked away a bit but we have been here for a good while. Most of what we do involves a lot of early mornings in the kitchen. By the time most people are waking up, we are already starting on the big pots and getting the spices ready. It’s a lot of physical work, standing on your feet for hours and making sure everything is packed up correctly for delivery. We aren’t a massive company with a fleet of trucks; it’s more of a hands-on family kind of setup. We know the streets of Chennai well, especially around the 600097 area, because we are always moving back and forth to get orders out on time. Sometimes things get a little stressful when there are multiple orders on the same day, but we just put our heads down and get it done. We don't really have a fancy office for meetings; people usually just call us or stop by the kitchen to talk about what they need. We just focus on the cooking and making sure we don't run out of ingredients. It’s a simple way to make a living, and it keeps us connected to the neighborhood. We just do what we know how to do best every day. We hope to keep doing this for many more years.
