Asha Provision

We are located over in Melatheru, which is part of the Chepauk area in Chennai. It is a place with a lot of history and very tight-knit streets. Our provision store is where most of the locals come when they run out of something in the kitchen. We keep all the staples like rice, dals, and various spices that are used in everyday cooking. The weather here in Chennai can get really humid, so we try to keep the shop airy, though it is hard with so many bags and boxes piled up everywhere. We open the shutters early in the morning when it is still a bit cool. You will see people coming in for milk packets or their first newspaper of the day. We do not have a team of people working here, just us managing the counter and checking the stock. It is a lot of standing around and lifting heavy sacks of grain, but that is the nature of a provision store. Sometimes it gets hectic when everyone comes at once after work, but usually, it is a steady flow of neighbors. We do not have a big fancy storefront or anything, just a sign and our goods displayed as best as we can on the shelves. It has been our routine for years to serve the people of Chepauk, and we have grown used to the sounds of the city around us every single day.
