Archana Stores

Archana Stores is located right on School Road in Chetpet. Being near the Corporation School means we see a lot of kids and parents every day. It's a busy little spot, especially when school starts and ends. We've got all the usual household things people need. It’s not a huge place, so things can get a bit cramped when several customers are inside at once. We don’t have fancy lighting or air conditioning, just a couple of fans that keep the air moving. My brother and I take turns at the register. We spend a lot of time checking the expiry dates and making sure the milk is cold. Sometimes the delivery truck blocks the narrow road and we have to hurry to unload. It’s just how it goes here in Chennai. The neighborhood is mostly families who have been here for years. They come in for a kilo of dal or some oil. We don’t do big advertisements. People just know we are here. Sometimes we run out of bread if the morning rush is heavy. We try to order enough, but it’s hard to guess perfectly every day. We just focus on keeping the shelves full and the floor swept. It’s a simple life running a shop like this. We appreciate the regulars who stop by for a chat while they pay their bill before heading home.
