We've been at No 14/25 on Royapettah High Road for quite a while now. If you know Royapettah, you know it's a busy spot for shops. We mostly handle wooden things like chairs, tables, and that kind of stuff. It’s a family-run place, so there isn’t a fancy showroom or anything like that. Just a lot of wood shavings and pieces being put together. Most days it’s just us working on orders that people in the neighborhood need. Sometimes someone wants a cupboard fixed or a new bed frame made to fit a tight corner in their house. We don't really have a big catalog to show. Usually, people just come in, point at something, or describe what they want, and we see if we can do it. It gets loud with the saws and the traffic outside, but that’s just how it is here. We aren't trying to be one of those big malls. We just make furniture that stays together. Some of the tools we use are pretty old, passed down from my father, but they still work fine. If you walk down the road, you'll see our sign. It's nothing fancy, just a place to get some work done. We spend most of our time out the back or chatting with customers near the front door about how long a certain piece of teak will last. The floor is usually covered in sawdust by noon, and we just sweep it out at the end of the day. It’s simple work, but it keeps us busy enough.
