Akshya Foods

Akshya Foods is right here at No 1 on Bharathi Street in West Mambalam. This part of Chennai is always crowded and we are right in the middle of all that noise and activity. We have been here for a good while now and mostly we just focus on getting the food ready for the morning rush and the people heading home from work in the evening. West Mambalam has a specific feel to it and we try to just be a normal part of the street. It’s a small place and things can get a bit cramped when it’s raining outside or when everyone comes in at the same time for lunch. We spend a lot of time cleaning up and making sure we have enough supplies for the next day because you never really know how many people will show up. Most of our customers live just a few blocks away and they know us by name which makes the work feel a bit more like a community thing rather than just a business. We don't have any big signs or anything like that because everyone around here already knows where we are. It’s mostly just about keeping the stove going and making sure the food tastes like it should every day. Sometimes we run out of things early if it's a busy Tuesday but that’s just how it goes here.
