Akshaya Thalapakatu Biryani

You can find us, Akshaya Thalapakatu Biryani, on E. H. Road in Vyasarpadi. This is a part of Chennai that is always full of life and a bit of noise from the traffic. We focus almost entirely on Thalapakatu style biryani, which is what we are known for in this neighborhood. The shop itself is quite small and we don't have much room for anything other than the kitchen and a few tables. Most of our customers just come in to get a parcel to take home. We cook our biryani in the traditional way and when the pots are empty, that’s it for the day. Vyasarpadi is a place where people appreciate a good meal that doesn't cost too much. We don't have air conditioning or fancy chairs. It can get a bit hot inside with the steam from the cooking, but nobody seems to mind much. We’ve been on E. H. Road for a while now and we know many of the people who walk past our door every day. We don't use any fancy advertising. The smell of the spices usually does the work for us. It’s just a small team of us working here. We aren't trying to be a big chain. We are just a local biryani shop doing what we can every day. We keep things simple and focus on the food we know how to make.
