We are located at shop number one in Burail Village, right near the Lucky Plaza Hotel. Chandigarh has a lot of fancy places now, but our dhaba is more about the old way of doing things. It is a busy spot because Burail is always crowded with people moving around. The kitchen is small but we manage to put out a lot of plates every day. I usually sit near the front to handle the cash and talk to the regulars. We get a lot of workers and students who want a meal that does not cost too much. The benches are wooden and a bit old, but they work fine for a quick meal. Sometimes the smoke from the tandoor gets a bit thick if the wind blows the wrong way through the door. We do not have a big menu, just the things we know how to make well. My cousins work in the back, and we argue sometimes about the salt or the spices, but that is just how family businesses go. The village area is tight, so parking is always a headache for people coming in cars. Most folks just walk in from the nearby shops. We stay open pretty late because there is always someone hungry at night. It is noisy and hot, but it is home for us. We have been at this address for a long time and seen the whole area change around us while we just keep cooking.
