Nandos Restaurant

You can find Nandos Restaurant on the third floor of Elante Mall, in the Industrial Area Phase II of Chandigarh. Being in a mall like this is quite different from being on a regular street corner. The 160002 area is always busy with shoppers and people going to the movies. I work at Sco 306-307, and most of my day is spent under these bright mall lights. We don’t have any windows to the outside, so we often forget what the weather is like until we leave for the night. The air conditioning is always running, which is nice when it’s hot outside, but it makes the food get cold faster if we don't bring it out to the tables quickly. We have a lot of teenagers and families who come in, especially on Saturdays and Sundays. It gets so loud with the echoes that you can barely hear the music playing in the background. I spend a lot of time checking the tables to see if people need more water or if they are finished with their plates. The kitchen is small compared to the dining area, so it’s always a bit of a squeeze for the cooks to move around each other. We wear these aprons that get stained pretty easily with sauce, but we try to look presentable for the customers. By the time the mall finally closes, we’re all ready to get some fresh air and head home. It’s just a busy job in a very busy place, and we do our best with it.
