Harish Dhaba and Guest house

We run this small dhaba and guest house at Shop 129 in Dariya. It's right near the railway station in Chandigarh, so it’s a very busy spot. Upstairs we have the rooms for the guest house, and downstairs is where the food is. It’s a lot of work balancing both parts of the business. One minute we are serving a plate of food, and the next we are checking someone in or getting fresh sheets for a room. The building is a bit older, so there’s always a tap to fix or a lightbulb that needs changing. Being so close to the station means people arrive at all hours of the night. You hear the whistles of the trains while you’re trying to sleep sometimes. We try to keep things clean, but with so many travelers coming in from the dusty roads, it’s a constant job. The guest house isn't a luxury hotel, just a place for people to get some rest before their next journey. We have some regulars who come back whenever they are passing through the city. Usually, the mornings are the most hectic when everyone wants breakfast at the same time. We just do the best we can with what we have here. It’s a family-style way of running things, nothing too formal. We’ve been at this location for years, and we know almost every neighbor on this street now.
