Our shop is at 116, inside the Inderjeet Singh Palace on Main Bazar near Delhi Gate. If you’ve ever been to Delhi Gate, you know how hectic the Main Bazar is. There are people, rickshaws, and cows everywhere. Our place is packed with all sorts of arts and crafts items. We have boxes piled up so high that you have to be careful not to knock anything over when you walk through the aisles. It’s a bit dark inside because the building is old and the windows are small, but we have plenty of tube lights. We spend a lot of time unpacking crates of beads, wooden items, and traditional decorations. The dust from the street always finds its way in, so we are constantly wiping things down. We don’t have a website or a fancy catalog; people just come in and look through what we have on the shelves. Sometimes we spend half an hour looking for one specific thing a customer wants because it got buried under something else. The rent is high because of the location, so we use every inch of space we have. It’s a noisy, colorful mess most days, but it’s our mess. We like the energy of the bazar, even when it’s 40 degrees outside and the fans are barely moving the air.
