Karan Art Gallery

You will find Karan Art Gallery down in the basement of Shop No 1 at the Tip Top Shopping Centre. It is on Saraswati Marg in Karol Bagh, which is a really busy area to be in. Since we are in the basement, it stays a bit cooler than the street outside, which is nice during the summer. The stairs are a little narrow and steep, so you have to watch your step coming down. We have been in this spot for a long time, right under the main shops. The walls are mostly covered with frames and different pieces we are working on. It is not a huge space, but we make it work by using every inch of the walls for display. Sometimes the lighting flickers a bit, but we just get on with things. Being in Karol Bagh means there is always people walking past the shopping centre, though not everyone notices the basement entrance right away. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glass and making sure everything looks okay on the racks. It can get a bit cramped when more than a few people are inside at once. Most of the day is spent handling orders or talking to people who walk in off the street. It is a practical workplace where we just focus on the items we have. There are no fancy couches or coffee machines here, just a lot of hard work and art.
