Bawa Gallery

You can find Bawa Gallery over at 13/18 Wea in Karol Bagh. It’s a busy part of town, but our building is tucked away just enough that it’s not too overwhelming. We started this place because we had too many things collected and nowhere to put them. Now, it’s full of all kinds of items, mostly stuff for the home or pieces that look nice on a shelf. The walls are a pale yellow, and we’ve got rugs on the floor to keep the noise down a bit. I spend a lot of my time dusting the shelves because Karol Bagh is quite a dusty place with all the cars going by. We don’t have a big staff, usually just me and a helper who comes in the afternoons. Sometimes we have tea and just wait for the evening rush. It’s not a polished showroom with bright spotlights; it feels more like someone’s living room that got a bit out of hand. We don’t really do any big advertising. Most people find us by walking past or hearing about it from a neighbor. The door sticks a little when it’s rainy, so you have to give it a good push. We like the local feel of this area. It has a lot of history, and we feel like a small part of that now. There’s always something interesting happening on the street outside our window. I often sit on the small stool by the door and just watch the rickshaws go by when it's slow. We have some old clocks on the walls.
