Utkrushtam Farmer Producer Company Limited

Based at Narendra Shrikrushna Shelke's house in Janephal. House number 456. Buldhana is our district. We are a bunch of farmers who decided to team up. The name Utkrushtam sounds big but we are just local guys. We grow mostly cotton and soy. The market is always up and down. It makes it hard to plan. We meet up and talk about which seeds are actually working. Sometimes the stuff they sell you in town is junk. We share the truth about what works. It’s a small group. We know everyone's name and their kids. We are not a big firm with a city office. We work out of the village. The roads here are bad in the monsoon. Sometimes we can't even get the trucks in. We just deal with it. We try to sell our stuff as a group. It’s a bit better than going alone. We are learning how the laws work. It's slow but we are getting there. We aren't trying to be anything we're not. We're just people with dirt under our fingernails and a lot of work to do before the next rain. If we can get a slightly better price by being a company, then it’s worth the extra effort with the books. We just take it day by day. Janephal is our home and we’ve been here forever. We’ll tell you the truth about how the crops are doing. We are just trying to survive and keep going.
