Mehkar Farmers Producer Company is basically just us locals here in Mehkar trying to make a living from the land. We operate out of House No-34, which is right in the heart of town. Most of us have lived here our whole lives, and our families have been farming these same plots for generations. Farming in this part of Buldhana can be tough because the rains aren't always reliable, so we figured that forming a company would give us a bit more strength when it comes to buying seeds or selling what we harvest. We don't have any big slogans or anything like that. We just show up every day, work the soil, and try to get a fair price for what we grow. The house where we meet is a simple place where we sit down and figure out the logistics. Some days the talk is all about the price of fertilizer, other days we are worried about a pest that is going around. Being part of this group means we aren't alone when things go wrong. We are all neighbors here in Mehkar, 443301, and we know each other's faces and families. It is a slow process building this up, and we make mistakes with the forms and the legal stuff sometimes, but we are learning. It’s just a way for us small farmers to keep going in a world that seems to be getting bigger and more complicated every day. We just hope for a decent harvest.
