This place is located in Khamgaon, which is part of Newasa district. We are basically set up at Shobha Bhaskar Bankar’s house, specifically at number 227/2 K. It’s not an office building like you see in the city. It is a home and a place of work. Maharaja Sayajirao Gaikwad Farmer Producer Company Limited started because a few of us realized that farming alone is getting tougher every year. Costs for everything are going up and it helps to have a group. We spend most of our mornings out in the dirt and the afternoons trying to figure out the business side of things. There is always something to fix or someone to talk to about the next season. We don't have a marketing team or anyone to write fancy letters. We just focus on what we grow and how to get it to the market without losing money. Sometimes the crops are good and sometimes they aren't, that's just how it goes with the land. We talk a lot over tea about what seeds to use or how the water situation is looking. It is a real community effort here in Khamgaon. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there. We just want to make sure the work we do pays off for everyone involved. It’s a basic operation, very local, and we just keep pushing forward.
