Our group, Kulvant Agro Farmers Producer Company Limited, is based out of Isrul in the Deulgaon Raja area. If you come looking for us, we operate out of Shri Gulabrao Uttamrao Bhutekar’s place. It is a quiet spot in Isrul, which is part of Buldhana district. We don't have a big office building or anything like that; it’s just a local operation where we gather to talk about the farms. Most of us around here are dealing with the same issues, like the cost of fertilizer or waiting for the monsoon to hit at the right time. We put this company together so we could handle our own business instead of relying on middle people all the time. The paperwork takes up a lot of our time, more than we expected when we first started. On most afternoons, you’ll find a few of us sitting around Gulabrao’s house checking the ledger or discussing which crops are doing well this season. It gets quite dusty on the roads around here, especially when the tractors are moving back and forth during harvest time. We keep things simple because that’s what we know. There isn’t any corporate hierarchy here, just neighbors trying to make the farming life a bit more sustainable. It’s a lot of work, and sometimes the electricity goes out while we are trying to use the computer, but we manage to get things done eventually.
