Life in Ubalkhed revolves around the farming seasons. When it’s time to plant, everyone is out at dawn, and when it’s time to harvest, we are all working until dark. This company was formed so we could have a bit of backup. Instead of every farmer fighting for themselves, we act like a unit. It’s a bit like a team, I suppose. Shivaji handles a lot of the coordination from his place. We don't have any professional managers or anything like that. We just use our own experience from years of working the soil. Buldhana is known for its farming, but it’s still a struggle to make ends meet sometimes. We look for ways to get our supplies cheaper and find buyers who won't cheat us on the weight or the price. It’s a very basic operation. We meet under the shade of a tree or in a small room to discuss the business. There is no corporate polish here, just plain English and a lot of talk about cotton or grain or whatever is in the fields. We are proud of what we do, but we don't go around bragging about it. We just want to keep the village going and make sure the next harvest is a good one.
