Darbar Hall Restaurant

Darbar Hall Restaurant is located inside the Basant Vihar Palace Hotel. We are out on Sri Ganganagar Road in Bikaner, right along National Highway Number 15. It’s an old place with high ceilings and heavy doors. When you walk in from the highway, the air usually feels a bit cooler than the dusty road outside. Being on the highway means we get a lot of travelers passing through who are tired from driving for hours. They usually look pretty dusty and just want to sit down somewhere quiet. The hotel grounds are big, so it feels a bit separated from the main traffic noise. Inside the restaurant, the furniture is older and everything has a bit of weight to it. We spend our mornings setting the tables and making sure the floors are wiped down before the first guests come in. Bikaner gets incredibly hot during the day, so we try to keep the shadows long and the atmosphere calm. It’s not a fast place. People take their time here, reading the paper or just staring out the windows at the road. The staff has been around for a bit, so we know where everything is and how the day is going to go. It’s just a regular part of the hotel where people come to fill their stomachs. We see a mix of locals from Bikaner and people who are just stopping for one meal before heading further down the highway toward Sri Ganganagar.
