Chandragupt Restaurant

We are out here on the Jaipur Bikaner Highway in Himatsar. Most people find us because they are driving between the cities and need a break. We sit inside the Vesta Bikaner Palace grounds at the 10th milestone. It gets pretty hot during the day, especially in the summer months when the sun hits the pavement outside. The restaurant has been here for a while now. We keep the place clean and ready for whoever stops by. Sometimes it’s a family on vacation and other times it’s just a driver looking for a quick bite. Our staff mostly lives nearby, so they know the area well. We don’t have fancy decorations, just tables and chairs where you can sit down and get out of the wind. The highway can be noisy with the trucks passing, but inside it’s a bit quieter. We start early in the morning to get things ready before the first travelers show up. It’s a steady kind of work. We see a lot of different faces every day. Some people stay for an hour and some just grab something and leave. We’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the road. There isn’t much else around this part of the highway for a few miles. We just focus on making sure there is enough food prepared and that the water is cold. It’s a simple life running a place like this in Himatsar.
