Siva Shakti Saloon

If you are walking around Paik Nagar in Baramunda Colony, you will probably see the SBI ATM. We are right near there at Shop No-1400. It is a busy little corner of Bhubaneshwar. I spend my whole day in this shop, Siva Shakti Saloon. The walls are painted a light green, though they could probably use a new coat soon. I have three mirrors and some old shelves where I keep the talcum powder and the spray bottles. The floor is made of white tiles, which makes it easier to see the hair when I am sweeping up. People from the colony come in all day. Some are in a rush to get to work, while others want to sit and talk for an hour. I hear all the local gossip, from who is selling their house to how the local cricket team is doing. The weather in Bhubaneshwar is usually quite humid, so the fans are always spinning at top speed. I have a small stool where I sit when there are no customers, but that does not happen very often. My hands are usually smelling like aftershave or lemon water. It is a regular job, nothing special about it, but it is mine. I like the feeling of the clippers in my hand and the sound they make. When I close the shop at 751003, the streets are finally starting to cool down a bit.
