We are located in the No1 Market area of Bhubaneshwar, specifically down Nadia Lane in Unit 1. If you know the Handi Line, you know where we are. This market is always humming with noise. Our shop is a small corner where men come to get their hair cut or just a quick shave before they go about their business. The chairs are the old-fashioned heavy ones that have been here for a long time. They’ve seen thousands of people over the years. We have a couple of large mirrors that are starting to show their age at the edges, but they still work fine for what we need. The ceiling fan stays on the highest setting because it gets really warm in here during the afternoon. We keep a stack of old newspapers and some magazines on the side table for people waiting. Most of our customers are locals who have been living in Unit 1 for decades. They don’t want anything complicated, just a decent cut and a bit of a chat. The floor is made of old tiles that we sweep every twenty minutes or so. You can hear the vegetable sellers shouting outside and the bikes weaving through the narrow lane. It’s not a quiet place, but it feels right for where we are. We just open up in the morning, sharpen the razors, and wait for the regulars to show up throughout the day.
