Maa Mangala Saloon

Being located in the No1 Market area of Unit 1, there is never a quiet moment for us. We are right on Behera Lane, not too far from the Srikhetra Hotel. If you live around here in Bhubaneshwar, you know how hectic the market gets during the day. We’ve been set up here for quite some time now. The shop is small, but it’s ours. Most mornings start with sweeping out the dust from the street and setting up the tools for the day ahead. We see all kinds of people, from the hotel guests who are just passing through to the local vendors who work right next to us. It’s a tight-knit community in this part of town. Sometimes we share a tea with the neighbor while waiting for the next person to come in. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re usually too busy with work to think about that. People come here because they know us and they know exactly where to find us. We don’t use any fancy machines or anything like that. Just the basic stuff that works for our daily tasks. It’s funny how the sounds of the market just become background noise after a while. We stay open until the market starts to wind down in the evening. It’s honest work and it keeps us going day after day. Every day is a bit different, but the routine stays the same. We like it that way because it's what we know.
