Shretranya Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our group, Shretranya Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited, is based in the Higanghat area. We operate out of Shri Madhukar Shankarrao Kombe’s place in Pohana, specifically Dl-4139. It’s a group for the women farmers around here to stick together. Farming is tough work, especially when you are doing it on your own. By forming this company, we get to share our knowledge and resources. None of us are experts in business, but we know the soil and we know what grows well in this part of Higanghat. We spend most of our mornings out in the dirt and then meet up later to discuss the company business. The office is just a simple space where we keep our records and meet. It’s not fancy at all. We are just local women trying to make a living and support our families. Being in Pohana means we are close to our fields, which is the most important thing. We deal with whatever the season throws at us, whether it’s too much rain or not enough. Sometimes we sit around and just talk about the price of seeds over tea. It’s a very local thing. We aren't looking to become some giant company. We just want to make sure the women in our village have a fair shot at selling what they grow. That is why we started this and why we stay. We just keep our heads down and do the work that is needed.
