Sahyandri Swaraj Mahila Producer Company Limited is located in Parsodi village within the Sakoli taluka. We don’t have our own separate building yet, so we work right out of the Grampanchayat office, specifically at room number 01. The Sarpanch has been helpful in letting us use the space for our meetings and work. This company was started by a group of women from the local area. Most of us have our own small farms or do some kind of home-based production. We realized that if we worked together, we could handle the selling part of our business much better. It is a lot of effort to balance the house, the kids, and this company, but we make it work. We meet up a few times a week to discuss what we are producing and where it needs to go. We aren't experts in business, but we know our products and we know how hard we work. Parsodi is a quiet place, so this company gives the women here something of their own to focus on. We don’t use any fancy marketing. We just talk to the people in the surrounding villages and the local markets in Sakoli. It’s a very hands-on operation. We are just trying to build something stable for our families and our community here in Parsodi. It's tough but doing it together makes it much easier than going it alone.
