Vijaya Lakshmi Sweets & Savouries

We are located at number 39 in Dodda Mavalli. This is an old part of the city and the streets are quite narrow. Our shop, Vijaya Lakshmi Sweets & Savouries, has been around for a bit. We do two things here. We make sweets and we make salty snacks. We have big metal containers where we store the savouries so they stay crunchy. The sweets are kept in a glass display near the front so people can see them from the street. We use a lot of oil and sugar in the back room. The floor can get a bit slippery if we aren't careful with the cleaning. We don't have any fancy marketing. We just put the food out and people buy it. Most of our recipes are just things we learned from our parents. We don't measure things out with perfect precision every time. We just go by feel and taste. Sometimes a batch of snacks comes out a little browner than the last one but it still tastes fine. We pack things in plastic covers or cardboard boxes depending on what you buy. It’s a busy life but we enjoy it. The neighborhood is loud and there's always someone yelling or a scooter honking outside. We just stay behind the counter and keep serving whoever walks in. We don't really use the internet for the shop. People just know our address and come by when they're hungry.
