We started Allenberry Home Made Chocolate Products right here at No. 383 on 65th Cross in Rajajinagar. It’s a residential area, so it’s a bit quieter than the main markets. The smell of melting chocolate usually drifts out into the street, and the neighbors don't seem to mind. We aren't a big factory. It’s more like a large kitchen that got a bit out of hand over the years. There are trays of chocolates drying on every flat surface we can find. Bowls and spoons are always being used, and someone is constantly washing up in the back. It started as a hobby and then people kept asking for more, so we just kept making it. Fancy packaging machines aren't part of the setup; we mostly wrap things by hand while we talk or listen to the radio. It’s a small team, mostly family and a couple of neighbors who help out when things get busy around the holidays. A storefront doesn't exist, just the house. People usually call ahead or just stop by the gate. Complicated ingredients aren't for us, just the stuff we’ve always used. Sometimes the chocolate doesn't set quite right if the weather is too humid, so we have to start over. It’s a bit unpredictable but we like it. It’s just us making sweets in Rajajinagar and trying to keep the orders straight for everyone.
