Udupas Upahar

We are just a small upahar, which means it’s a place where people come for quick snacks and a hot coffee. The building itself has been there for many years. We open up very early, usually before the sun is fully up, to get the first batch of coffee ready. The locals who go for their morning walks in the nearby parks often stop by. We don't have any air conditioning or plush seating. It is just wooden or plastic chairs and granite counters. The noise of the street and the honking of the buses comes right in through the open front. We don't do any marketing or advertisements. People find us because we are on the corner and they can smell what’s cooking from the sidewalk. The staff is small, and we mostly just know everyone who comes in by their first name. It’s a simple routine that we follow every day without fail. We don't try to be anything other than a local corner spot in the heart of Chamrajpet. We just serve and move on.
