Chikkus Crispy Snacks

We run Chikkus Crispy Snacks from a ground floor spot at 4 Veerappa Reddy Layout. It’s a small place, and most of the time it smells like oil and spices because we are always making something. We started this because we liked making snacks, and it just grew from there. It’s a family-style environment here. We don't have a big factory or automated machines; a lot of it is done by hand. We spend our mornings prepping ingredients and our afternoons packing things into bags. The layout is usually quiet, but we have people dropping in to pick up packets of chips or savory mixtures for their evening tea. Sometimes we run out of certain items if we had a busy day, and we have to tell people to come back tomorrow. Our shelves aren't always perfectly organized, and sometimes the labels are slightly crooked, but the snacks inside are what matter. We try to keep the place clean, though flour and crumbs have a way of getting everywhere. It is hard work standing on your feet all day near the stoves, but we are used to it now. We don't do much advertising; people just hear about us from their neighbors. If you’re walking through Veerappa Reddy Layout, you can usually smell when a fresh batch is being fried. It’s just a simple local business.
