Sri Shakthi Sweets

Sri Shakthi Sweets is tucked away in the Srirampuram area on the 5th Main, close to Okalipuram. The address is 3/1, but people around here just know us as the spot on the corner. We get started very early in the morning, often before the sun is even up, so we can get the first batches of food ready. The kitchen is small and it gets incredibly hot once we start the big frying pans. We make everything ourselves right here in the back. It is a lot of hard work for just a few of us, but we prefer it that way instead of getting things from a factory. The front of the shop has glass cases where we put out the fresh sweets and snacks. We see a lot of people in the early hours who are grabbing a quick bite before they catch the bus to work. It slows down a little in the afternoon and then gets busy again when the sun goes down. We have to be very careful with the cooking times because one mistake can ruin a whole tray of food. We really hate to waste anything, so we keep a close eye on the stoves. The street outside is pretty noisy with all the bikes and traffic, but we don't notice it much anymore. We have seen a lot of the local kids grow up and now they come in with their own families. We just try to do a good job.
