We are located at number 51 in the Rambaug Society area of Malleshwaram. It’s a pretty quiet spot compared to the main market roads. Sri Krishna Sweets Pvt Ltd has been around for quite a while now. Most of our day is spent around the big vats of ghee and sugar. The smell sticks to everything, even our hair and clothes. We have a small group of workers who have been with us for years. They know the recipes by heart now. We don't really write things down in a book. It’s more about how the mixture feels under the spoon or how it smells when it's bubbling. Malleshwaram is a traditional neighborhood, so people expect things to be done a certain way. We try to keep up with that. The shop itself is quite plain. We have the usual glass counters and some stools for people to sit on if they’re tired from walking. During the holiday seasons, the line stretches out the door and into the street. It gets stressful, but we just keep packing the boxes as fast as we can. We use a lot of cardboard and paper tape. Sometimes we get orders for big weddings, and then the kitchen runs twenty-four hours a day. It’s a lot of manual labor, lifting heavy sacks of flour. We aren't a corporate office with desks. We're mostly on our feet all day. It’s just what we do here and we keep at it.
