About Shyam Sweet Snacks – Food & Beverages in Bengaluru
Shyam Sweet Snacks is a little shop at G-2 in New Thippasandra, right by Paud Phata. We spend most of our mornings getting the frying pans hot and the sugar syrup ready. It’s a small place, so the smell of cardamom and hot oil hits you as soon as you walk in. We make the usual stuff, like samosas and different kinds of barfis. It’s not a fancy restaurant. There are just a few glass cases where we keep the day's batches. Sometimes we run out of the popular items by the afternoon, and people get a bit disappointed, but we only make what we can handle. The floor gets a bit sticky from the sweets, no matter how much we sweep it. We know the people in the neighborhood who come in every evening for their tea-time snacks. It’s a busy corner, and there’s always someone stopping by for a quick bite. We don’t do much advertising. People just find us by the smell or by word of mouth. It’s just a family-run kind of thing, really. We keep things simple and try not to burn the milk. Some days are more hectic than others, especially during the festivals when everyone wants a box of something sweet. We just keep the stove going and do our best. It's a lot of standing on our feet, but seeing people enjoy the food makes it okay at the end of the day.
