Shree Ganesh Hot Chips

If you walk down the 2ND Main Road in Halasuru and turn into the 2ND Cross, you’ll find us at number 3 5. Shree Ganesh Hot Chips is basically just a big frying pan and a lot of bags. We spend most of our day slicing potatoes and bananas. The smell of oil is pretty much stuck to our clothes by the time we go home. It’s a simple setup. We have the big metal containers where we keep the finished snacks. Some days the salt gets everywhere, and we have to keep cleaning the counter. People stop by on their way home to grab a packet for tea time. We don’t have a big team, just a couple of us making sure nothing burns in the oil. It gets pretty loud with the sizzling and the traffic outside on the main road. Sometimes the supply of potatoes isn't great, and we have to spend extra time picking out the good ones. We don’t use any fancy machines, mostly just our hands and the slicers we’ve had for years. It’s a bit cramped inside when we get a big delivery of oil tins. You can see us from the street, usually with a bit of steam coming out of the shop. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning till the evening lights come on. We usually close up when the last batch is bagged and the floor is finally swept for the next day.
