S S Condiments & Sweets Stall

Our place, S S Condiments & Sweets Stall, is located right at Dharmaram College. It’s more of a stall than a full shop, really. We have these big glass jars filled with all sorts of snacks and savory things that people like to munch on. The students from the college are our main crowd. They come over during their breaks to grab something small. It gets quite crowded around the counter in the afternoons. We’ve got sweets too, mostly the hard candies and some of the more traditional ones that don't spoil easily in the heat. Being a stall means we are pretty much open to the elements. When it rains, we have to scramble to pull the tarpaulin down so the snacks don't get soggy. It’s a bit of a juggle. I’ve been working here for a long time and I’ve seen a lot of students graduate and move on. Some of them even come back years later when they’re in the area just to see if we’re still here. We don't have any fancy signs or neon lights. It’s just the name painted on the wood. We keep things simple. There’s no point in making it complicated. We just open up in the morning, set out the jars, and wait for the first bell to ring at the college. It’s a steady kind of life, even if it’s a bit dusty from the road. Sometimes we even have a chat with the college security guards when things are quiet.
