If you head down Railway Road near the Arabic College area, you’ll find us. Prithvi Theatre isn't one of those massive multiplexes with reclining seats and expensive popcorn. It’s a bit more old-fashioned than that. We have a stage and some rows of chairs that have seen better days. A lot of the time, the place is quiet during the day while people are at work. That’s when we do the maintenance, like fixing broken hinges or painting the backdrops. Then in the evening, things start to wake up. We get groups coming in to practice their lines or set up the lights. It gets a bit dusty backstage because of all the old curtains and props we keep stored back there. We’ve had all sorts of shows here over the years. Some are loud and full of music, others are just a couple of people talking on stage. We handle the tickets ourselves at the little window out front. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to scramble to get things working again. It's not a perfect setup, but it works for the folks around here. The train tracks are close by, so occasionally you can hear a whistle in the middle of a quiet scene. It just adds to the character of the place. We don’t have a big marketing team. We just put up some posters on the wall outside and hope people stop by to see a show occasionally when they have some free time.
