Poonam Sweets

Poonam Sweets is over in Banashankari 2nd Stage, right at number 43. We’ve been in this neighborhood for a good stretch of time now. The shop isn't huge, but it's got enough room for the counters and the trays of food we put out every morning. You can usually smell what’s cooking before you even reach the door. It’s a nice smell, mostly sugar and fried things, which is what you’d expect from a place like ours. We don’t have fancy decorations or a designer interior. It’s just tile floors and glass cases that we spend a lot of time cleaning. People from the nearby houses in Banashankari come in all day. Some are in a hurry, and others like to chat for a minute while they wait. The address 43 is easy to find, right there on the main stretch. We’ve got a few staff members who have been with us since we started, so it feels like a bit of a family. In the evenings, it gets quite crowded, especially when people are headed home from work. We don't use any big words to describe the shop. It’s just a place where we make things and sell them. The back room is where all the real work happens, with the big pots and the heat from the stove. It’s hard work, but we are used to it by now. It’s just how we live.
