New Bombay Sweets

New Bombay Sweets is located right here in Tasker Town GIDC. It’s a busy spot near the industrial gates where the big trucks are always moving around. We open up early in the morning when the air is still a bit cool. The floor is made of simple tile and we have to sweep it a few times a day because of the dust that comes in from the road. There are some tables inside and a couple of stools that wobble if you don't sit on them just right. My uncle used to be the one running everything but now it’s just us. We keep the different sweets in the glass cases and try our best to keep everything looking neat. It gets really hot in the afternoons and the ceiling fans just push the warm air around. Sometimes the power goes out for an hour and we just go sit on the curb outside until it comes back on. People from the workshops nearby are our main customers. They usually want something fast and then they head back to work. We don't have any fancy decorations or bright lights. Just the name on the board and the address here in the GIDC area. The kitchen door in the back squeaks every time someone goes through it. We’ve been here for a good while now. The paint is peeling a little near the ceiling but nobody seems to mind it. We just keep the trays filled up and lock the metal shutter when the sun goes down.
