Maruthi Sweet Stall

We’ve been here in the Rajajinagar Industrial Estate on Street 15-1/2 for quite a while now. This area is mostly factories and workshops so it gets pretty dusty outside. We started this stall to give the workers around here something quick to eat during their breaks. It's not a fancy place with air conditioning or anything like that. We have some metal trays on the counters where we put the sweets we made that morning. Most of what we sell is pretty traditional stuff that people grew up eating. We get the sugar and flour delivered in big sacks and we spend most of the early hours cooking in the back. The heat from the stoves is a lot, especially in the summer. We don't really have a website or any of that stuff. People just know where we are. Sometimes the street gets blocked by trucks delivering parts to the factories nearby. We just keep the shutters open and wait for the lunch rush. It’s a busy spot during shift changes. We pack things in simple boxes or paper bags. Sometimes we make mistakes with the change when it’s really crowded but we try to be fair. It's just a regular stall in an industrial part of town. We do what we can with the space we have. Most of our days are spent just keeping the cases filled and cleaning up the sugar spills.
