Manasa Theatre has been here at Doddakalasandra on the 80 Feet Road for a long time. It’s at 21/5A in the 2nd Block. The building shows its age if you look closely at the corners or the ceiling, but it still draws a crowd whenever a big movie comes out. We have the ticket counters outside with the metal bars, and it gets really loud when there’s a line. The lobby isn't very big, so it fills up fast before the show starts. We spend a lot of time sweeping up popcorn buckets and empty bottles after the lights go up. The projection room is up a narrow set of stairs that most people never see. It’s always a bit cooler in there. On weekends, the parking area is a complete mess with scooters everywhere. We try to keep it organized but people just park where they find a gap. The seats inside are the old-fashioned kind. They aren't the softest, but they do the job for a three-hour film. We have a small snack bar that stays busy during the interval. It’s mostly just tea, coffee, and some fried snacks we keep in the glass cases. The neighbors know us well because of the noise during the late-night shows. It’s just a local cinema for the people living around here who don't want to go to the expensive malls.
