Kamakya Theatre

Kamakya Theatre has been a part of Banashankari 3rd Stage for a long time now. We are tucked away on 1st Hansabad Lane, at number 43/2. It is an older building, and you can tell by looking at the walls and the way the seats are arranged. We show movies throughout the week, and the place really fills up on the weekends when a new film comes out. The popcorn machine is almost always running, and that smell hangs around the lobby all day. We have a staff that tears tickets and helps people find their seats in the dark. It can get pretty messy after a show with empty cups and wrappers left behind, so we have to move fast to clean it up before the next crowd arrives. The sound system is loud enough to rattle the doors sometimes. We have a big screen that has seen better days, but it still works fine for watching a show. People in the neighborhood know us well, and we see kids who used to come here now bringing their own families. It is a simple place to go for a few hours to forget about everything else. The lane outside is usually crowded with scooters and cars during showtimes. We just keep the projector running and the lights ready for when the movie ends. It is a lot of work keeping an old theatre going.
