Gujarat Sweets

You can find us at 39/1 on Hennur Main Road. Gujarat Sweets is just a small place, nothing too fancy to look at from the outside. We have a counter right at the front where people can see what we’ve made for the day. I usually arrive very early, before the sun is even up, to start the first batch of snacks. The kitchen is cramped and we have to be careful not to bump into each other. We make a lot of different things, mostly the traditional stuff people expect. The floor is made of stone and it gets a bit slippery if someone spills a bit of syrup. I try to keep it clean, but when it’s busy, that’s the last thing on my mind. Hennur Main Road has changed a lot over the years with more cars and bigger buildings, but our little corner stays mostly the same. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us who know the recipes by heart. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to work by candlelight for a bit, which is a real pain. We don't have a website or any of that stuff. If people want to know what we have, they just have to walk in and look at the trays. It’s a simple business and we just do our work every day. I also handle the inventory myself, which means I spend a lot of time counting bags of sugar and flour in the back room.
