Gayatri Sweets & Chats

If you walk down 7th Main in Rajarajeshwari Nagar and turn at 25th Cross, you will find us at number 124. This little shop has been our life for a long time. We wake up early to start on the sweets because the milk needs time to settle and the sugar has to be just right. It gets hot in the kitchen, especially in the afternoons when we start the chat counter. You can smell the spices all the way down the block. We don’t have much in the way of seating, just a couple of small tables where people stand and eat their snacks. It’s often noisy with the sound of the stove and people talking over each other to get their orders in. Sometimes we run out of certain items before the day is over, but that is just how it goes when things are made fresh. The display cases are old and have a few scratches, but they show off the sweets well enough. We see the same faces every morning for breakfast and then a different crowd in the evening for their spicy treats. It is a busy life, and there is always something that needs cleaning or a jar that needs refilling. We keep things simple here. There are no big decorations or soft music, just the sound of the neighborhood and the smell of food cooking in the back while we work.
