Gangotree Sweets & Confectioners

Gangotree Sweets & Confectioners is located at 1213 in Rajajinagar, over in Sion East. It’s a place where we make and sell various kinds of traditional sweets and snacks. The smell of ghee and sugar is pretty much stuck in the walls by now. We start work early in the kitchen to get the fresh batches ready for the day. It’s a lot of stirring big pots and shaping things by hand. We have trays of laddus, barfis, and savory snacks lined up in the glass cases. The shop isn't huge, so when it gets close to festival time, it gets really crowded and a bit chaotic. We don't have a corporate office or a big management team. It’s just us and the cooks in the back. Sometimes the snacks come out a little different because of the weather or the ingredients, but that’s the nature of handmade food. People in the neighborhood know us and stop by for a quick bite or to take a box of sweets home for their families. We don't do fancy packaging unless someone asks for it. Mostly, it’s just brown paper bags and simple boxes. It’s hard work being on your feet all day, but seeing people enjoy what we make is nice. We just focus on keeping the stuff fresh and the kitchen clean. There’s always something cooking in the back, and we wouldn't have it any other way here at our Rajajinagar shop.
