Gajanand Sweets has its home at 101 Vijaya Nagar on the Andheri Kurla Road. It’s a spot that’s always buzzing with people, given how busy this part of Mumbai is. We’ve been around for a long time, watching the metro construction and the traffic change the face of the road. Inside, it’s mostly just the counters and the stacks of boxes ready for packing. We specialize in the kind of sweets people grew up eating. Our kitchen is right there, and our workers have been doing this for decades. They don’t need recipes anymore; they just know how it’s supposed to feel and taste. It’s a bit of a loud place because of the street noise and the customers talking, but that’s part of the charm. We don’t have fancy seating or air conditioning that works perfectly all the time. People usually just drop in, pick up what they want, and head out. During festivals like Diwali, the line goes out the door and onto the sidewalk. We try our best to keep up, but it’s hard work. We don't use fancy packaging unless someone asks for a gift box. Most of the time, it's just brown paper bags or simple boxes. We’re a straightforward sweet shop for the working people around Vijaya Nagar. We’re just here every day, making sure there’s enough halwa and ladoos for everyone who stops by on their way home. It's just a regular part of the neighborhood routine.
