Chowdeshwari Theatre

The theater is located in Banashankari 3rd Stage on Nagar Road in Bhosari. It’s been here for quite some time, and you can see that in the way the seats look and the faded paint on the walls. We show movies throughout the day, starting from the morning shows until the late night one. I work at the ticket counter mostly, behind the glass. It’s a small booth and it gets a bit stuffy in there. When a big movie comes out, the line goes out onto the street and things get very loud. People are always asking about the best seats or when the next show starts. Inside the hall, the air is cool because of the big blowers we have. We spend a lot of time cleaning up popcorn buckets and paper after each show finishes. The projector room is up a narrow set of stairs, and that’s where the real work happens to keep the picture on the screen. It’s an old-school way of watching a movie. We have a small canteen where we sell tea and some snacks during the interval. It’s not like those big malls with the shiny floors. This is just a local theater where people can come for a few hours. The sound is loud and the screen is big, and that’s all most people are looking for when they buy a ticket from me.
