Chandan Theatre

Chandan Theatre has been sitting here on Yari Road 52/1 in Vidyaranyapura for as long as I can remember. The building shows its age a bit, but the screen is big and the sound still rattles the seats. We open the ticket booth about an hour before the first show starts. Most of the people who come here live just a few blocks away. You can hear the projector humming if you stand near the back wall. We have those old-style seats that squeak when you lean back too far. It isn't like those big fancy malls with carpets everywhere. We have concrete floors and a snack counter that sells popcorn in paper bags. Sometimes the fans on the ceiling make a clicking noise, but nobody seems to mind once the movie is playing. We try to keep the place clean, sweeping up after every show is done. The posters on the wall get changed every Friday when something new comes out. It is a quiet street until the movie lets out and everyone heads home at the same time. We have been part of this neighborhood for years. It is just a place where you can sit for a couple of hours and watch a story. Nothing more to it than that. We just like movies and having a place for people to watch them.
